Øivin Fjeld and the G-Sharp guitar
Read MILES GILDERDALES comments on the G#
Having only owned a G sharp for a short period I'm pretty sure I haven't untapped the guitar's full potential yet!

However my initial thoughts are that this is a very surprising instrument . I've just been using it in the studio on our latest album and naturally got a lot of smiles and jokes when I took it out of the case , however , once I tuned it up and started working on my parts the guys started nodding to each other and our engineer commented, " Ah I get it - so it's a real instrument then , not a toy" .

And actually that pretty well sums it up - while this guitar absolutely won't get you laid , it really is a valid instrument . It finds it's own place in an ensemble and adds something quite unique( though I'm not quite sure I understand exactly what or why it is yet) to the blend of guitars.

It's not a 12 string thing and it's not a mandolin thing but it definitely affects the spread of sound .The other thing is that it's all right there , straight out of the box , eminently playable , sweet sounding and responsive - I find myself grinning to myself a lot when I pick this thing up , it just keeps surprising me that you can get that much music out of this little thing.

I don't know how Oivin came to the conclusion that the world needed the G sharp , there must have been some seriously lateral thinking involved . I'm really glad he did though , and I'll report back when I get to know it better.
